Poro Secret Society Threatens Life of Young Man

Abu Bakarr Fofanah is currently on the run after members of the poro secret society approach him to take over the position of his father. Abu Bakarr Fofanah’s father was a member of the poro secret society until his death.
According to information, Abu Bakarr father died in Lungi in the Port Loko District northern Sierra Leone after a brief illness. Just after the death of his father, members of the secret society approached the young man so as to take over his father’s position by joining and becoming a members of poro secret society.
Refusing to accept the offer Mr. Fofanah, left the village, unnoticed and returned to the city Freetown. This was not all, it was now time for the fortieth day ceremony for which family members would gathered, offer prayers for the dead and also offer food to sympathizers.
During the fortieth day ceremony, Mr. Fofanah was approached again by members of the society and this time his uncle was involved.
Information reveals, that the young man refused again to yield to their demand forcing him to leave the village before the ceremony could end.
While in Freetown, Mr. Fofanah was chased and was nearly abducted if not for friends who intervene by putting up a strong resistance to wade off his abductees.
Report reveals that Abu Bakarr was seriously beaten while his abductees were trying to push him into a waiting taxi cab. Eyewitness account informed this medium that he was hit several times on the head and incurring severe body pains. Abu Bakarr is said to have sustained some serious pain while resisting and fighting to save his life.
However, since the incident, Mr. Fofanah had not been seen in public due to the threat on his life.
The Poro secret society is currently a big threat to the lives of young men in Sierra Leone through forceful initiation, ritual murders and kidnapping schemes.
Many young men have fallen victims of the dangers associated with the cult except those who run away from their communities for safe havens, most times, outside the country.
Abu Bakkar Fofanah now faces similar situation as he is being hunted by ‘Poro’ members who have vowed to initiate him so that he can replace his late father.
His father who was a senior ‘Poro’ member passed away on 22nd March, 2022 and was buried without his children having the chance to see his remains.
At the moment, this young man faces death threats from the cult members who are in search of him in any part of Sierra Leone including neighbouring countries.
The whereabouts of Abu Bakarr Fofanah is still unknown since that faithful day when his captives failed to capture him.
