Guinea Bissau Holds Regional Conference On Union of West African Priests
The Union of West African Priests are meeting in Guinean Bissau to discuss critical issues affecting the sub region. Among the attendees is Father Peter Konteh, the Executive Director of Caritas Freetown.
“We are thrilled to share the fantastic and colorful opening ceremony of the Conference of the Regional Union of West African Priests in Guinea Bissau, said Father Peter Konteh who is among priests attending the conference.
Father Konteh said, this is a truly historical moment, where Catholics from ECOWAS countries come together annually to discuss critical topics affecting the sub-region.
This year, 2024, we gather under the theme: "The Prophetic Role of Priests in the Face of Intolerance and Ethnic-Religious Instrumentalization in Sub-Saharan Africa."
He said in the midst of all the current challenges we encounter, we, as Catholic priests, are called to be the voice of the voiceless. We must be prophetic, standing firmly on the side of Truth.
“We should not allow politics, tribes, or religion to separate us. Together, we will continue to champion unity and peace in our beloved region,” he said.
Stay tuned for more updates from this significant conference. Your prayers and support are greatly appreciated!
