Leone Rock Provides Food, Sings and Dance with Less Privilege Women

It was a joyous moment, a moment of laughter, a moment that is always wished for by disabled and vulnerable women.  The Leone Rock Metal Group was out on the street to celebrate with disabled and vulnerable women on the street of Freetown.

The momentous occasion witness staff of Leone Rock Metal Group, dancing and singing with disabled women, sharing rice including cooking condiments. The donation of food items and entertainment was part of effort to celebrate the International Women’s day 2024 that is celebrated globally. 

At the PWD Junction that houses disabled women, the women were thankful and very joyous while receiving Leone Rock Metal Group and the food items.

Chairlady of the disabled Women at PWD Junction, Madam Esther Kallon thanked Leone Rock for always coming to their aid during difficulties.

‘We are grateful for this donation as you have shown to us that we are important despite our condition. We are all one before God. Thank you once again for this gift on this day,’ she said.

Madam Kallon call on Leone Rock to not only be visiting them on International Women’s day as the other days are important.

‘We are now coming to the raining season and this is a difficult period. When it is raining we can’t go out to beg. As you can see all of us here depend on street begging to feed. The other days are also important in our lives and we want you to be always visiting us’ she said.

Kadiatu Sillah, chairlady Cotton Tree in central Freetown also expresses thanks and appreciation for the donation.

‘You are the very first company to visit us on this international Women’s day and we appreciate you for that. Last year you were also here to donate cooking condiments to us and it helps our various families. You are the first to come to our aid on this international women’s day. Thank you for always thinking about us,’ she said.

Madam Sillah said women are important in society adding that it is a woman who gives birth to the President and without women there will be no development.

This is memorable moment she said adding that they will continue to pray for Leone Rock to always succeed in whatever they are doing. 

Leone Rock Metal Group, Bashiru Koroma before the distribution explains the reason for the support and donation of food condiments to less privilege and vulnerable women on the streets of Freetown.

Mr. Koroma said Leone Rock Metal Group is the biggest Mining Company in the country and the reason they have always identified themselves with vulnerable groups and people who find themselves in difficult circumstances.

He said on this International Women’s Day celebration the company want to put smile on the faces of women in difficulty more so disabled and less privilege women.

‘Today we have come to share with you and to make you feel belong. We are celebrating this day with you as you are very important and we know that you need help. We are not only in the country to make profit but when we make profit we want to share some of these profits with you,’ he said.

He said last year the company was in the midst of disabled women to celebrate with them and the reason for this year’s donations also. 

‘This donation is to motivate you and to say to you that we recognize the work women are doing and most especially disabled women. This is to also show that that we care for you as you people are always in our thought,’ Mr. Koroma said.

Mr. Koroma said Leone Rock Metal Group will always recognizes and support women. 

‘Continue to do what you do best and to always stay positive and peaceful citizens. Stay out of trouble and make sure you are free form the things that will put you in trouble, he said.                                        

The donating of Rice and cooking condiments to less privileged, women on the streets of Freetown attracted dozens of less privilege women across the city.

The donations were climaxed by performances from Leone Rock in-house musician and entertainer Morris. Foods were distributed to women around PWD, Cotton Tree, Bus Station, East End Police round about and Kissy Road.
