“We need Both Energy and Fresh Perspectives”

…Fr. Peter Konteh

By Mohamed Konneh

“The world is full of irony. In some countries, political leaders are very young, and people complain about their inexperience. In other countries, older politicians face criticism for being too old for the job, say Rev. Fr. Peter Konteh.

Fr. Konteh was speaking earlier this week on national perspective looking at the world of today.

“The truth is, we need both the energy and fresh perspectives of the young, as well as the wisdom and experience of the older generation to shape the future of our nations,’ he said.

The Catholic Priest said while it is true that attributes associated with age can sometimes present obstacles, it is essential to recognize that age alone should not be the sole determining factor for the future of nations.

He said what truly matters are the intrinsic qualities that define a person's character and leadership capabilities.

Father Konteh zoom in on integrity, honesty, accountability, and a sincere commitment to the rule of law that are crucial attributes that should be prioritized when evaluating leaders.

He said a true leader is someone who places the interests of the country above personal agendas, demonstrating a deep sense of responsibility and dedication to serving the greater good.

“By focusing on these fundamental qualities rather than solely judging based on age, societies can ensure that their leaders possess the ethical foundation and values necessary to lead with integrity and make decisions that benefit the nation as a whole. Ultimately, it is these attributes and qualities that define a truly effective and responsible leader, regardless of their age,” he concluded.
