Denis Sandy Takes Over as Works Minister

The newly appointed and approved Minister of Works and Infrastructure Dr. Denis Sandy has taken over as minister after receiving the handing over note from his predecessor, Peter Bayoku Conteh.
The handing over took place in the conference room of the ministry on Tuesday 1st August 2023.
Making the handing over the outgoing minister of Works and Infrastructure Peter Bayoku Conteh thanked President Bio for the opportunity given to him to serve his country.
He said for the last five years, he had the opportunity to work with the government of President Maada Bio and the people of Sierra Leone.
“I did what I had to do with the resources I met. I am delighted to welcome the new minister who is a friend and brother. My handing over note contains the ministry’s mission and vision, the institutions under the ministry, including the SLRA, Asset Commission and more, he said.”
Peter Boyoko Conteh also noted that ‘I have never sold any government building neither took or personalized government asset.
“The assets in my office have been crosscheck, and all are in tacked. Let me use this opportunity to thank the staff especially the permanent secretary, who gave me the utmost support during my time as minister, he said.”
He prayed that the staff will give their maximum support to the incoming minister.
“Thank you so much and I am going back to my community, Koinadu District, he concluded.
Receiving the handing over note, the new minister of Works, Dr. Denise Sandy thanked President Julius Maada Bio for appointing him to that position.
Dr. Sandy thanked his predecessors including past ministers from the APC noting that each one of them did what they have to do while they were in office.
“No matter who you are and where ever you find yourself some day you have to leave. What is important is the legacy you will leave behind.
Yes I might be too young but I respect each one of you here. I am not here to change anybody but I am here to recalibrate based on the new direction manifesto. I will work with all of you, he said.”
Dr. Sandy assured the outgoing minister that once in a while he call on him for direction and advice.
“I will work with each one of you. What we want is to make this place a better place for all of us. We have to smile throughout the next fifty nine months as I am here with an open mind. So let us work together for the good of this country he told the staff.”
He said there is every need to have things done, while drawing attention to the huge pot potholes across streets in the capital Freetown.
“We have to mend these holes. Let us work together and make President Bio proud and make our people happy, he said.’
Speaking earlier the Director General of the Sierra Leone Roads Authority, Ing Amara Jambai Kanneh said welcome the new Minister for his appointment while also thanking the outgoing minister.
He described the outgoing minister as somebody with innovative and professional that has a good heart and easy to work with.
“We will continue to remember you and pray for you wherever you are. The minister coming in is no stranger to the ministry, and we believe we will have a good working relationship, he said.”
He said the new Minister is coming in at a time when the contract for road constructions has been sign. This is work ahead and we welcome you to the era of development for the country.
The handing over was climaxed by tour of the ministry including other departments.
