Deputy Managing Director, Emmanuel Borbor… Guilty?
When the late Philip Lukulay secured a loan from the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) to establish the Maritime Administration Building and a Modern Hall to accommodate local and international conferences, it was done against the backdrop that it will not only upgrade the country that is lacking modern buildings for international conferences, but will generate revenue to offset the loan and also provide financial gateway to establish similar outfits in the country in different locations. So repaying the ECOWAS loan and generating revenue to establish similar facilities were the premises for the loan. This medium has learnt that the loan repayment has since been completed, but other areas such as the establishment of similar facilities has not been achieved. Infact, attention has been diverted to areas that are not part of the project document. The late Philip Lukulay is dead, but his legacy is currently been enjoyed, but politically abused by one person, who is the Deputy Managing Director of the Rokel Commercial Bank. While the Bank is on the necks of creditors to repay their loans and sometimes embarrassing them by unlawfully putting a hold on cheques that cross through the Rokel Commercial Banks for their customers. That is payment from other Banks to their Customers. The Deputy Managing Director is enjoying a smooth ride, against these odds and not been pressurized by Management or shareholders of the financial outfit to repay his loan, that he took to open a restaurant business for his wife at the Maritime Administration building. His intention, being a tribalist is to inject tribalism into the Rokel Commercial Bank and transform it to a Mende Financial Institution. Over the years the Rokel Commercial Bank, previously known as Barclays Bank was the pride of White Nationals working in Sierra Leone and some krios in the Western Area. Most of the transactions were done by krio merchants, Syrians, Indians, and Lebanese. Little did the Mendes carry out transactions with the Bank, for fear that was out of their imagination. The tribalist, who is the Deputy Managing Director of the Bank, Emmanuel Borbor in his wild dream thinks that only a Mende Man, who is SLPP proper like himself should head the Bank. All others Managing Directors are APC
The name, Emmanuel Borbor appears to be a household thriller at the Rokel Commercial Bank. Anytime the name appears in the public domain, it does not depict a very good image of the individual and the bank where he is getting his livelihood. While the bank is fast-forwarding its mission such as “to provide banking and related financial services in a manner that builds a strong, lasting and satisfying relationship with customers, employees, shareholders, and communities in which the bank operates,” there exist a cabal, allegedly spearheaded by the Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Emmanuel Borbor that is plotting behind the scene the downfall of employees they consider not part of them. The objective is to create a situation whereby employees and the public will see them as the power brokers of the Bank with power to take decision, disregarding professionalism and expertise.
This medium has learnt that the Bank’s Deputy Managing Director, Emmanuel Borbor, the Legal Officer, Margret Davies nee Kamara, and Abdul Rahman Mahdi, the Business Development Director; are members of the group described by their colleagues as a “trinity” that is working behind the scene and planning the downfall of their colleagues. The “trinity” is viewed by many as the ‘administrative coup’ of the Rokel Commercial Bank that is more political than professional.
“The “trinity” is an integral part of the bank’s top Management cadre. A senior Manager of the Bank has described the trio as lacking the core values that cut across policies and decisions of the Bank, which comprise good management, ethics, transparency, and positive teamwork. Some sections of the workforce of the Bank are now calling on the government, Board Members and the National Commission for Privatization (NCP) to save the bank from a potential collapse that has been envisaged.
All efforts made to seek clarifications from the Deputy Managing Director; Emmanuel Borbor whose name has been vividly mentioned has proven unsuccessful.
However, what appears to be a criminal syndicate has already been established by some quarters using their relationship with the powers that be to wreck havoc on the bank.
Events unfolding show how the trios are bringing selfish political interest into the bank’s good administration and management.
Sources connected with the Rokel Commercial Bank has revealed that one of the Managers is notorious for extravagantly lavishing stolen monies on his number of parlour wives, one of which could be described as a semi harlot that was paid in 2018 to stay in the United States of America where she is receiving $30,000 on a monthly basis,”It has now become evident that the desperate move to dump some of the workers is purely egocentrism, with the clear objective to head the administrative and operational wings of the Bank.
Investigation by this medium has revealed that the cabal has raised funds to finance a smearing campaign against the current Managing Director which has turned out to be dead on arrival.
