Partnering To Serve Humanity Support Mabela Fire Victims With Relief Items

The PARTNERING TO SERVE HUMANITY has distributed Emergency Disaster Relief items to 1,575 individuals from 320 families who are Victims of Fire accident that hit at Marbella and Susan's Bay communities.

Partnering to Serve Humanity comprises of four like minded organizations; including Healey International Relief Foundation, LANYI Foundation, Caritas Freetown and Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation. 

The support came through the Tzu Chi Foundation, with distribution effort taking on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd June 2024. 

Speaking during the distribution the Program Manager for Caritas Freetown, Ishmael Alfred Charles said the consortium was able to provided a 21-day hot meal program where hot food was cooked and served to 1,575 individuals daily. 

“Today, these same individuals will receive the listed relief supplies to support their families. This event continues to embody love, compassion, and care for those affected by an inferno, reflecting the core teachings of Dharma Master Cheng Yen, the Founder of the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation,” Mr. Charles said.

Ishmael Alfred Charles noted that serving humanity is something the consortium is known for and the best thing one can do in helping people in need.

The Executive Director of Caritas Freetown, Rev. Father Peter Konteh while making the distribution thanked Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation for providing the relief items noting that the items will go a long way in helping the fire victims.

He called on the beneficiaries to make the best use of the items and encourage the beneficiaries not to sell the items.

“This is for your own use, don’t sell them because you need them more. We know the food items will not be enough to last you for the raining season based on family size but these items will go a long way in helping the family. Some of you lost almost everything during the fire disaster and the more reason why we are supporting you,” Fr. Konteh said. 

The Relief items provided include

Food items:

- Rice

- Vegetable oil

- Water

Non-food items:

- Foam mattresses

- Rubber for bathing

- Tarpaulins

- Blankets

Sanitary kits include:

- Toothpaste

- Toothbrush

- Slippers

- Lappa

- Bathing soap

- Towel

- Underwear

- Torchlight
