Father Threatens to Kill Son Over Marriage

Father Threatens to Kill Son Over Marriage

One of the fullah business tycoon in Freetown, Muctarr Jalloh of Brima Lane, Wellington in Freetown, has threaten to Kill his biological son, Abu Bakarr Jalloh for allowing to marry a woman that he (Muctarr Jalloh) and the family do not approve of.

Muctarr Jalloh who own shops within the capital Freetown is a typical traditional tribe’s man and they only married to their tribe’s men and women. Children of the fullah tribe are strictly warned not to married outside of the fullah tribe.

With this in mind Abu Bakarr Jalloh has decided to break this shackle and defy his father advice and tradition. Been an educated man and in this days of modernization Abu Bakarr Jalloh and most other young fullah children continue to defy this tradition.

Report alleged that both Abu Bakarr and his father were engaged in physical confrontation leading to some serious family dispute.

Relatives also intervene and condemn the act but also encouraged Abu Bakarr Jalloh to find a lasting solution. As we go to press Abu Bakarr Jalloh’s father is still an angry man who has vow to kill his son if he marries a women from another tribe.

Reaching out to the father on the matter, Mr. Muctarr Jalloh vow to disown his son adding that community people no longer respect him.

“As chief imam of my Masjid, the community people no long respect me. Abu is not my son because a son listen to his parents. People who come to me for advise no longer do so because of the behaviors of this boy,” he said.

According to the fullah tradition any son who defy the advise of his father is not supposed to explain the story and must be banned within the fullah community and if possible on earth.

The matter was reported to the police and charge to court but was later discharged for lack of evidence. Despite this threat, nothing has been done to resolve the matter, but police have to settle the matter using other family channels.

However, Abu Bakarr Jalloh is said to have leave the country with his wife from another tribe to a faraway destination.

As we go press the whereabouts of Abu Bakarr Jalloh is still unknown.
